Must... Resist... Urge

Let me preface this post by saying that I am a pretty frugal person. I try not to spend extra on things that can be gotten for less. But sometimes, there are urges that I just cannot resist.

There I was, standing in front of the various assortment of liquid laundry detergents -comparing prices and total loads per bottle. I was reaching for my usual brand -which is always an excellent buy at under $6 for 60 loads -when I saw it. I saw the sale tag first. $9.99. On sale. Ummm, not my idea of a good price for laundry detergent. But then my eyes connected the sale tag with the bottle sitting above it. {{{Swoon}}} Ahhh, my first love. Gain detergent. Expensive, yes. But, oh, such a wonderful scent.

It only took a split second for me to do the math and another second to convince myself that I can afford to splurge now and then. I mean, my family does have to have clean clothes and why not go for it all by making them SMELL clean too. So I buy it and I have no regrets. I’m already on my second batch of clothes, my home smells awesome, and I’m quite happy. I am sad that I only have one batch left, but I’ll cry about that later.

As someone who despises doing laundry, I’m completely amazed that I am more than happy to be doing laundry right now. (Yes, right now as I sit here typing this, I hear the lulling sound of the agitator and smell that glorious scent .) Was it worth the extra cost? Oh, most definitely. They can rightfully charge that much BECAUSE it smells so wonderful. Does it clean better than the other brands? I doubt it. Never paid much attention to the cleaning power of Gain. Truth is, I’m usually too intoxicated from the lovely smell wafting through my home.

{SNIFF} Ahhhhhhhhh.
